There’s lots to explore around Moyo island if you know where to look! From hidden beaches and spectacular waterfalls to jungle treks and batcaves – there really is something for everyone!

Professional Snorkeling Equipment Hire: Mask & Snorkel 60.000 IDR / Fins 50.000 IDR per person / per day

Discover our house reef from the beach in front of our resort. The shallow reef holds a large variety of marine life and colourful corals for you to explore.

Motorbike Rental: 150.000 IDR per 1/2 day

Roads on Pulau Moyo are all dirt roads and are not in good condition, for this we advice taking motorbike taxis which we can order for you upon request. If you are a confident motorbike rider and would prefer to explore Moyo island yourselves we can rent a motorbike to you at your own risk.

Diwu Mba'i Waterfall - Free of Charge

Located just 30 minutes walk from the resort along a nice shaded path. This local waterfall is a favorrite among the locals with a rope to swing into the 3 meter deep natural pool. A great way to cool off during a sunny afternoon on Moyo Island. 

Matu Jitu Waterfall Nationel Park entree fee: 150.000 IDR ( excl motorbike taxi to Mata Jitu 100.000 IDR).

The world famous Mata Jitu waterfall is where Lady Diana used to bathe. Located a 1 1/2 hour walk (approx 7km) from our resort or a 20 minute motorbike ride which we can arrange this for you. This spectacular waterfall is surrounded by stunning jungle settings and natural water steps where you can take a dip. The healing waters of Matu Jitu will make you feel like a new human. This is a ‘must see’ during your time on Pulau Moyo! (Kids till 12 years free entree)

Sengalo Waterfall: 1.300.000 IDR (half day boat charter)

Sengelo Waterfall is another hidden pearl in Pulau Moyo. We will leave after breakfast at 8am to and take a 45 minute boat ride to Sengelo. We’ll arrive at a secluded beach and then take a 15 minute trek to the waterfall, you can spend time climbing the rocks and swimming in the 3m deep natural pool on the top. At 11am we will depart back to the resort, it’s well worth a visit!

Sengalo Waterfall: 1.650.000 IDR + 50.000pp lunch (full day boat charter)

We will depart from Labuan Aji at 8:30am and travel to Sengalo, arriving at around 9:15am. First we will explore the beautiful coral reefs, taking a dive or snorkeling on the beautiful Sengalo slope with lots of soft and hard corals, turtles, sharks and many other species of marine life. Around 10:30am we will park at the secluded Sengalo Beach and take a 15 minute walk to the waterfall. There is a good chance of spotting the famous Maleo bird and other species of wildlife. At 12:00 we will enjoy lunch on the beach and there’ll be time to relax and snorkel from the beach afterwards. At 13:30pm we will depart to Takat Sagele, arriving around 14:15pm. Here we make our third stop for snorkeling and/or diving, this reef covered sea-mount has a small island and a big wall that is excellent for diving and snorkeling. We will be back at Maleo Moyo Resort around 16:00pm.

Takat Sagele: 700.000 IDR (Half day boat charter

We depart at 8:30am and take a short boat ride to Takat Sagele, a small island surrounded by coral reefs and a great place for snorkeling. We’ll dock the boat at our mooring and you will have all the time to swim and follow the big reef wall looking for sharks, schooling fish, sea snakes and turtles, we aim to be back at the resort around 11:30am.

Bat Cave: 1000.000 IDR (boat charter) + 100.000pp entrance fee

Departing at 8am, we’ll take a 30 minute boat trip to a remote part of the island. It a about a 30 minute trek through the jungle, passing a small local village on the way. After reaching the cave entrance, we’ll climb inside and witness hundreds of thousands of bats in their natural habitat. Feel the rush as they swarm above your head! You’ll also spot some large pythons chilling in the cold cracks in the rocks. This trip isn’t for everyone but is certainly a great experience for the pleasure seekers who appreciate nature! We’ll be back at the resort around 12 midday.

Satonda Island Nationel park: 2.500.000 IDR (boat charter) + 150.000 IDR pp entrance fee

Leaving at 8am, we’ll take a 2 hour boat ride to the magical island of Satonda. You’ll have the chance to explore Satonda’s large salt water crater which has formed a 70m deep lake. In front of the island there is a great spot for snorkeling and a shallow dive to around 20m. Baby sharks are often spotted after washing the dishes from lunch. Our Satonda Island trip can be combined with the Sengalo Waterfall trip, as it is on the way. This is a full day excursion from 8:30am to around 16:30pm.

Raja Sua: 1.300.000 IDR (Half day boat charter)

We depart at 8:00am from Labuan Aji and take an hour boat ride to Raju Sua. Explore an area of small private beaches that are excellent for snorkeling. Discover 5m high rock formations underwater which are also great for divers, swimming through an underwater mountain range! You will have time for snorkeling and also to relax on your own private beach! We aim to depart around 11am and head back to Labuan Aji.

Raja Sua /Poto Jarum: 1.650.000 IDR (Full day boat charter) + 50.000pp for lunch)

This excursion is the best option for snorkelers. We depart at 8:30am from Labuan and return back around 16:30pm, visiting 3 sites at Poto Jarum, Raju Sua and Maleo beach where you can relax and enjoy a tasty lunch. This location has some of the best places for snorkeling around Moyo.
On the way back the last stop will be at Tekatsekili, a big seamount with a very small island top, a good change to spot turtles sea snakes and sharks and of course lots of fish.
This excursion can be combined with the bat cave trip which is located right between each destination (extra charge 100.000pp park and guide fee).

Mount Tambora

Mount Tambora is located on our neighboring island to the east, and is a popular destination for hikers. We can help organise this hike for you while you are with us in Moyo and can help with transportation to the volcano too.
